Salem's Accused is a 90 minute play written by Anna Rebek in the fall of 2025. The play is a dramatization of the events that began the Salem Witch Trials, starting with the illness of the young girls, and ending with the first group to be found guilty and hanged. With an expansive cast of 17, Anna brought the story to life in a staged reading at the Kelly-Strayhorn Alloy Studio space in her hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. 

The Boys From Kingsbridge is a critically acclaimed Off-Off-Broadway play written by Steven Sarah and directed by Anna Rebek. The intimate show presents a deeply realistic, nostalgic brotherhood between two partners in the NYPD set against the backdrop of 1999 New York City. This play was presented as part of the Dream Up Festival at Theatre for the New City. The play focuses on the last day of partnership between the two lifelong friends after 25 years of serving together. Anna worked closely with the playwright, Steven, to create a gritty, stark world to contain both the deep, heartfelt revelations and humorous banter between the characters. 

This fall, Anna is taking on one of the most complex, layered plays of all time. With a fresh translation by the UCLA Working Group on the Comedia, Sor Juana's play Love is the Greater Labyrinth, will be fully staged for the first time in English. Artistic Director Dave Dalton brought Anna to Charlottesville to share her knowledge of the classics and viewpoints knowledge with the students and create a cohesive ensemble for this 15 cast member show. With live music, constant mistaken identities and brilliantly high and low-brow jokes, Sor Juana's feminist plays are finally being explored in the canon, this time cleverly staged by a fellow feminist. It is an honor for Anna to work on this challenging material and incredible production team.

January 2023 @ the gorgeous Kasser Theater at Montclair State Unviersity,
two full casts presented a double bill of fantastic opera, lead by conductor Kyle Ritenauer.
Gianni Schicchi by Puccini, and Buoso's Ghost by Michael Ching, featuring our amazing Schicchi, Seungchan Hong, went on both nights, which makes sense because he was hysterical and a champion. His professional cover, Steven Condy, was in the house cheering him on. 
These two operas were the result of a semester long class called "Opera Workshop" where I was their acting professor/director. I was very supported by my colleagues in the room, musical director Victoria Schwartzman,  assistant conductor, William Hobbs. For the first months they were assigned to learn the music, with weekly review, and then blocking began and away we went. 
For January, I assembled a really stellar team to bring my Medieval concept to life- in the scrolling photos above you can see the original set drawing that we worked from as inspiration. My friends from NYU MFA design came on board to realize this elaborate concept- Heather Freedman, costumes, and Maamoun Tobbo, set. 
This project was by far the largest budget I'd ever had to delegate- and I squeezed every dime's worth out of it! We had some very special guests on opening night- a great Q & A panel lead by Karen Driscoll: Maria Zouves,  Sherrill Milnes and Fabrizio Melano. 
I was extremely proud of all the students hard work- it was over double the usual turn out for the mainstage opera, and they were proud of themselves with all the excited applause at the end. There was some great acting up there- and the story was clear for even the non-opera viewers, which is something I really value, making opera accessible.
